Meet the Director/Writer
Brandie Matthews hails from a remarkable lineage of service, with five generations of honorable veterans in her family and a distinguished career in the US Army. Additionally, she is a descendant of the iconic Gene Autry and the legendary Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. Her dream film honors her father, and her current project, “Machiavelli,” aims to explore the complexities of political power. Rather than taking sides, it seeks to illuminate the sacrifices made in the name of “the greater good” for our country. The film delves into the foundations of our republic and reflects on principles established over 700 years ago. Brandie feels it is essential for our nation to remember the true meaning of patriotism and to recognize the critical role we play as engaged citizens in safeguarding the rights bestowed upon us as lawful members of society.
Splitting her time between Italy and Texas, Brandie cherishes her heritage and the rich cultural tapestry of Italy. She is married and a proud mother of two adult children, along with several grandchildren. The moments spent with her grandchildren are invaluable, and she strives to instill in them the idea that life should never be so serious that you can’t have fun and enjoy the present. While she dedicates herself passionately to her projects, Brandie maintains a harmonious balance, ensuring her family always remains a priority.
Brandie embraces a range of EXTREME hobbies, including skydiving (as a USPA member), SCUBA diving (NAUI certified), and sport fishing. A proficient musician, she plays both the trumpet and the French horn. Additionally, she has a background in competitive western dancing and has even instructed ballroom dance classes; her favorite style being the waltz, though she believes nothing captivates an audience quite like west coast swing.
In her artistic pursuits, Brandie has taken on roles such as Queen Victoria and Queen Constance I of Sicily, Holy Roman Empress, both in film and theater. She is also gearing up for an upcoming performance where she’ll be dusting off her tap shoes. While underwater welding may lay beyond her current expertise, she leaves room for future possibilities. Brandie is a remarkable individual; meeting her feels like forging an instant and lasting friendship. Her ability to inspire and uplift those around her—friends and strangers alike—is a testament to her character. Her top five traits include: Trustworthy, Loyal, Honorable, Determined, Witty, and Reliable. Her sage advice? "Without your word or credibility, life can be a challenging and empty journey. Relationships, both personal and professional, depend on it."
Meet the Cast
Behind every great film are dedicated actors and actresses who bring the story to life. Meet the cast of Machiavelli.
Vlad Alexandrov
Niccolo Machiavelli
Vlad Alexandrov, an American actor with Russian and Montenegrin roots, is a multilingual performer, stand-up comedian, language coach, interpreter, and hyper-polyglot fluent in 18 languages.
A firm believer in big dreams, he brings a global identity, accent mastery, and emotional depth to every role he plays. His acting journey began in Turkey when a friend recited a *Rocky* monologue to show off his English. Curious, Vlad watched the entire *Rocky* series, deeply moved by the lines, “This kid is gonna be the best kid in the world,” and the “keep moving forward” speech, which changed his life. That same night, he searched “how to become an actor in the USA,” learning that fluency in 12 languages could help an actor stand out. Taking this to heart, he went on to master 18 languages.
Now in Hollywood, he remembers being told, “You don’t have anyone here in America.” His witty reply: “You’re wrong. I came here with a suitcase full of dreams.” He lives by two principles: 1) Never give up, and 2) Always remember the first rule.
Since then, he’s appeared in projects like *Three Thirty* (Keith Lakean Powell) and *Detroit Becomes Human* (Lucy Lu), proving himself as a rising talent. Recommended by his friend Keith Gorman for the role of Niccolo Machiavelli, Vlad feels a personal connection to the character—they both study people, have a hunger for knowledge, push beyond limitations, and keep moving forward no matter what.
